I haven't posted on my blog in a long time...

...because I'm shopping for a condo in Northampton and countering counter offers and I've got a thesis student and people know me on campus and they ask me to join their committees even though I don't know anything about Shakespeare or Folger's coffee and the dog is shedding like crazy so I have to swiffer pretty much every hour and daylight won't last so I try to go running when I can and I was hoping to start a knitting project but who knows when that will happen and I'm still recovering from Palin's annoying Idaho/Alaska/pitbull accent and the fall concert season is starting to pick up and I need to read 4 of Cervantes' exemplary novels by Thursday and then I drive to Hartford and suddenly people I miss from graduate school come crawling out of the woodwork and I can't stop looking at Facebook and grappling with how long ago I actually physically saw any of these people and when am I going to be able to read Marilyn Robinson's new book and oh yeah I have to teach these two classes and try to at least seem like I've done the reading before they have and nevermind actually getting around to reading the paper until Sunday when I have to catch up on Wednesday through Saturday and I should really take my car in and just about the time I feel like I've got everything covered I run out of food and have to go to the grocery store. So that's why it's been awhile. Happy Fall!

I can't get motivated today, so I am especially happy that you updated your blog. Though not that you're so busy. So exciting about the condo!

Sara,
I am so completely on your side of things right now. I am now on a committee about documentary filmmaking in Latin America! I teach Magical Realism and specialize in literature and intellectual history of the "long 19th century" in GERMANY.
But time must be made - perhaps a soldering committee must be formed in which 6 extra hours are fused with the current paltry 24 hour system with which we have to work.
Oh, yeah - the reading, the friends that we only see on facebook. Sigh. Do we want to drink wine when those extra six hours become a reality?
